Owner of the therapeutic, recreational service company, Xingyi Li began her journey studying at Hofstra for Creative Arts Therapy. She got her Masters degree and continued studying at Brooklyn College, receiving an Advance Certification in Play Therapy.

Then Li began working at a museum and started developing relationships with companies as she coordinated events for daycares and schools. In her transactions with these companies, Li noticed that some businesses were limited in the learning programs they offered children.

That sparked the inspiration for ActAble. Li realized through her educational background and work experience that kids learn a lot through art (art therapy) as well as they do from talking/reading.  ActAble supports visual learners in addition to creating a fun learning environment for students.

The recreational learning company offers students:

• SAT Exam Prep – which focuses on test-taking strategies while improving reading and math skills.
• Summer Camp – which “explores real-life topics through reading, model-making, creative writing, doing research, and discussion as well as presentation.”
• Programs specifically catered to children with special needs; dedicated to strengthening the relationship between parent and child.

These programs are centered on helping students with problem solving and literacy through fun activities such as reading, short clips from films; equally, incorporating research on certain topics and writing opinion pieces. The courses are currently being offered in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English.
